Virtual fitting services that combine artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) are appearing one after another at home and abroad, leading to sales results.

Following DeepEye, a subsidiary of EastSoft, which achieved increased sales by introducing a virtual fitting service for glasses and sunglasses using AI machine vision technology, Mirroroid Korea applied AI technology to create a smart smartphone that allows users to change their hairstyles. We have launched a mirror product that allows virtual fitting of mirrors and glasses and are beginning sales in Japan and elsewhere.

Early last year, MirrorRoid Korea introduced 'MirrorRoid', a smart mirror with a hairstyle simulation function that allows you to take a photo of yourself using the AR function and change it to the desired hairstyle or length, as well as virtually change your hair color. .

The company began full-scale overseas sales of smart mirrors and succeeded in selling 200 units to its Japanese partners. In Japan, smart mirrors are sold to beauty salons or provided on a rental basis. Currently, hair color is applied by adjusting the brightness and saturation of five representative colors, and in the future, through cooperation with a Japanese company, we plan to apply 156 types of actual dye colors so that you can experience dyeing with actual colors.

The company will begin domestic sales in earnest by unveiling a prototype that applies AI functions to a smart mirror through the Housing Fair this month following the 'Internet of Things (IoT) International Exhibition' held last month. AI recognizes the mirror user's face and determines whether the person is a woman in her 20s or a man in his 40s. Afterwards, Mirror's video function provides personalized videos, such as game videos to men in their 20s.

In particular, AI uses the eye recognition function to collect data on how interested users are in watching videos and reflects this when recommending the next video. In the future, we plan to develop a profit model by linking the video function with advertising.

MirrorRoid Korea also introduced for the first time the 'Mirror Circle' prototype, which allows users to virtually try on the desired glasses frame or colored lenses on their face by using a live function or by taking a photo themselves. The company plans to partner with an eyewear company to sell on a B2B (business-to-business) basis and provide direct B2C (business-to-consumer) services in the future.

DeepEye recorded sales of 3.1 billion won by introducing 'Rounds', an eyewear e-commerce service using deep learning technology, in June last year, and is expecting sales of about 6 billion won this year. The company has recently expanded offline benefits to customers through partnerships with large offline eyewear chains such as Story Hens and Glassbox.

In addition, Y Parker, a famous online glasses seller in the U.S. that achieved annual sales of $100 million within one year of its establishment, also introduced a service that allows users to virtually pick glasses through smartphone apps such as iPhones. After installing a separate app on your smartphone and selecting the glasses you like, the iPhone's self-camera activates and matches the glasses to the user's face on the screen. In particular, through the 'Virtual Try-on' function, even the expression of light reflected by the metal material on the glasses frame was realistically realized.
